Megan Abajian
4W, watercolor, acrylic, color aid collaged, 5″ x 4″, 2011
Artist Statement
Megan Abajian’s recent work incorporates her appreciation for her environs and her need to posses to guide formal decisions and abstractions. Collecting, amassing and beauty to the point of suffocation are all ideas that interest her. Density of ornamentation, its burden on the structure (organic or ideal), and its exposure of the human condition has the potential to create discomfort in the familiar. These ideas, while playing formal games, make her studio practice. Attitudes of the Rocco are never far.
